Lynn replies to inquiries immediately. AS a business owner, Lynn is very proud of her reputation, which is obvious in the details requested. My request for loading help (3 hour min-2 person) for the next day was accommodated. Impressive and lucky for me.
**James and Kendall were kind and methodical about loading the truck as if a tetrix puzzle. Prior to Bernard movers arrival our one-bedroom apartment, we prepared all items for a 2000 mile trip. Although Bernard offers this service, we prepared all the items for moving ourselves which included marking all boxes, shrink wrapping both boxes and all furniture pieces, numbered and labeled boxes, wrapped sofa in blankets and shrink wrap, used wardrobe boxes for clothes and also for packing misc items and TV boxes for TV and pictures. All shrink-wrapped, protected with blankets and/or bubblewrap. After reading the endless horror stories, we were scared about damaged items and honor of original quote. We were well prepared and Bernard Movers met our expectations!

I have used Bernard Movers twice before and even have left great reviews online. My recent experience has left me sleeping on hardwood floor, no clothing, no pots, no pans, no winter coats, NOTHING , NOT ONE PIECE OF MY PROPERTY because this company moved my things on September 24 and are now holding my things hostage. They underestimated my original quote by $400..of which I was not prepared to pay in cash. They refuse to release my things until I pay several weeks of storage at $50 per week (we are on week 9) and prepay for my move-in at an overblown estimate of $700 (which has never costs more than $400 from point A to point B). THEY CHARGED ME NEARLY $300 in materials. I'M BEING PUNISHED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT GIVE ME A 'CLOSE TO ACCURATE' ESTIMATE!
 
They are demanding nearly $2000 before anything happens. They refuse to acknowledge that they did not inform me I would be forced to shrink wrap EVERYTHING, tape things that didn't necessarily have to be taped, and box every large single item that may have been loose (like a directors chair)..THEY DID A POOR JOB AT TELLING ME WHAT THEIR STORAGE POLICIES ARE. EVERYTHING MUST BE TAPED, SHRINK WRAPPED, AND BOXED EVEN IF IT DOESN'T REALLY SEEM NECESSARY. Did I mention that it took add'l hours for all of my boxes, containers and items to be labeled and hand-written logged onto a sheet?
 
They refuse to talk to me unless I say I have all the monies they demand, they don't return my phone calls for questions. They refuse to allow me ANY access to my things to get MEDICAL SUPPLIES or WORK EQUIPMENT!! I CAN'T GET MONEY IF I CAN'T WORK!
 
Bernard Movers has excellent reviews online but I warn EVERYONE to avoid this company. I am shocked, disappointed and dismayed that this company, that has moved me twice before, has left me in the cold..literally!!

Movers beware!   They are very truthful, I used Bernard movers twice, I should have learned from my first experience where a local moved resulted in damage to furniture..  I decide to give them one more try but was beat again.. Not only is the price really high ($600 for a 2 bed room apt local).. Chances of damage to your property is almost a given.. and this time (949.00 to move it in storage while relocating.. , I was told “if this tuned into a long distance move then storage is free”. I attempted to book a final move the end of May and was quoted a price of $2,895.00. From Chicago to St Petersburg Fl. Then I find they also hit me with a $460.00 storage charge on top of the move charges.   (I obtaining quotes from several other moving companies for the same move an I found Bernard’s is almost a $1000.00 dollar higher than most)   I asked Lynn Bernard of the reason why if there was a billing problem with the storage why they would not contact me instead of letting it go for months. This bill practice is unacceptable. Lynn stated she would check with accounting and told me I owed for Feb, March, April and May.. Lynn told me don’t worry about June she won’t charge me for this month. I looked into my records and found that they if fact charged my card for a February I sent Lynn an e-mail asking her to verify that they did get paid.  She did verify this fact but then flip it again and sent an e-mail stated I still owe $460.00. which also included June.. I just don’t understand if there was a problem billing then why didn’t they contact me? Why would they let it go months? This just bad business practice I will not use Bernard again.    .

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this moving company.

I was scheduled for a move in the morning at 8-9am. After many unanswered phone calls (over 20 during the day) I was finally able to reach someone who told me my move was being postponed to the afternoon. The crew had been mistakenly sent to a different job when they were supposed to be taking care of my move. There was no communication about this. UNACCEPTABLE. I had to turn in my keys and my move out inspection at 2pm, which I could not do. I was charge an extra week of rent by me previous landlord since I could not vacate my apartment at the time agreed upon. Bernard Movers took no responsibility for this. When I told the company I would not pay the full price for their very poor service, they threatened me to cancel my move. RUDE AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I was told the movers were on their way and would be at my place between noon and 3pm. At 4pm, still nobody. I called many times and never got an answer. The movers arrived at 7pm (read 11 hours late). The move to my new place did not end until midnight which disturbed my new neighbors. I got complaints and the police called on me for the noise disturbance. The movers were INCONSIDERATE and started hammering the door at midnight to take it off. This whole experience was a NIGHTMARE!!!

The moving company absolutely refused to charge me less for the trouble and did not care about it at all.

I am a nice person, but I honestly do not have one nice thing to say about Bernard Movers. They might seem cheaper than other moving companies but you get what you pay for, namely crappy service. Lesson learned for me. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!
